The specialist magazine Education Business, which promotes closer ties between education and industry, has shortlisted King's in the ‘School Building Award’ category. Sponsored by Honeywell Commercial Security, the award is presented to the establishment that has provided the most technically advanced building constructed for the purpose of teaching present and future pupils across the United Kingdom.
Georgia Christie, The Events and Marketing Coordinator for Education Business Magazine, said: "The Education Business Awards, which have pioneered the recognition of school achievements since 1998 and have showcased success stories and examples of operational excellence in the UK Education System. The COVID 19 pandemic has placed a huge burden on schools to provide a continuing education to the nation's children throughout the crisis. Now, more than ever, it is essential that we continue to recognise their achievements and to acknowledge the vital role they play in helping the country to bounce back."
Georgia Christie added: "This award is presented to the establishment that has provided what is judged to be the most technically advanced building constructed for the purpose of teaching present and future pupils."
Caroline Johnson, King's Director of External Relations, said: "Our new £60 million campus was over 10 years in the planning and took 18 months to build, but it was certainly worth the wait and effort. Purpose designed to meet the academic, creative, sporting and wellbeing needs of this generation and generations to come, our only regret is that we sadly haven’t been able to welcome more visitors and parents this year.”
"Those that have been able to visit are stunned by its fantastic rural setting, impressive breadth of facilities and many of the design features which emphasize the natural environment, light and space. As one parent put it recently, ‘I can’t think of anything that you haven’t got or thought about’."
The winners of the Education Business Awards will be announced on 8 July 2021.
