I am delighted to join the Development Office at King's and I look forward to getting to know alumni, former staff, and current students and staff. I am a true believer that it takes a community to produce courageous citizens who can contribute to society and that is where I believe the Development Office's role sits.
Although I am not lucky enough to be a King's alumni, I went to a similar independent school in Suffolk which was a day and boarding school for ages 3-18. It is through this experience that I know how important the school years are to every child and how it directly impacts on the person you grow up to become and that is why I believe having an engaged alumni community is essential. The alumni for school such as King's are the connection to the ever-changing world, that the current students can realate to. I also believe that a successful school doesn't stop supporting its students on results day in year 13. We have to be there as support at any point in their lives that they might look back for help, and that is where a platform such as King's Connect is invaluable as every former student and teacher can network with their peers and connect with a mentor who might be able to help.
I eagerly await the opportunity to engage with all groups in our community to continue building relationships and helping develop both alumni engagement within the school and how the school can continue to support our alumni. I studied events management at The UK Centre for Events Management, at Leeds Beckett University before working in various events roles for both weddings and large corporate events and I plan to utilize my background and knowledge in the role to support and develop engagement in the alumni community.
I look forward to speaking with you all and getting to hear about your time at King's. In the meantime, if you would like to share with me the one memory that stands out the most to you I would love to hear them so please get in touch. jenny.armitage@kingsmac.co.uk
