Sophie was School Captain at King’s Sixth Form between 2012 – 2013. After achieving 3 A-levels in History, English Literature and Economics, Sophie went on to study History at the University of York. Whilst she was already considering a career in law, she decided to choose a subject she knew she would enjoy, knowing that she could complete a law conversion course following her undergraduate degree.  Sophie graduated with a First-Class degree with distinction and was honoured with the University of York Chancellor’s Award. Her decision to pursue a career at the Bar was affirmed following work experience in solicitors’ firm and barristers’ chambers during her final year of university. Sophie also recalls her final year at the Girl’s Division in 2011, where she was told that a courtroom was a bit like a stage and that she may want to consider becoming a barrister in recognition of her passion for performing and creative arts.

After graduating from the University of York in July 2016, Sophie went on to begin her law conversion course, achieving a distinction in her Graduate Diploma in Law. Whilst studying at the University of Law, Sophie began applying for pupillage in Manchester. Having applied to 3 sets of Chambers, Sophie received 2 offers and accepted a pupillage at Kings Chambers.

Having completed the law conversion course and secured a pupillage at Kings Chambers, Sophie moved on to begin the Bar Professional Training Course. In October 2018 Sophie was called to the Bar of England and Wales. Upon completion of her pupillage in October 2019, Sophie was offered tenancy at Kings Chambers and now specialises in Court of Protection work, matters involving the Mental Health Act, Abuse and Human Rights claims and inquests.
